Unfurl: The Citadel

A slow-paced platformer where a single key changes everything. Press Q to unfurl—expanding your form and softening gravity so you can glide across vast citadel chambers.

Time your unfurl to discover hidden paths, solve gentle puzzles, and explore at your own rhythm.

this game is built off the advanced movement of my previous game risk it for the biscuit which was not really my best work in terms of sound and art

how it fit the theme

this game fits the theme as when you "unfurl" you will expand

i was planning a lot for this game but i had to stop myself from making a game too complex to finish in the time limit

controls

in game there is a tutorial for this but let me explain it here

  • jump - up arrow key/w/space bar
  • left right - left and right arrow key/a and d
  • unfurl - q
  • respawn - e
  • not a keybind but its useful to know that for higher areas you can press jump immediately followed by unfurl to get through the vertical jumps which seem impossible at first

DEV NOTES!!!

omg I am so tired rn its like 1.42 AM and i did all the work for the project, only thing i didnt do was build a game engine ground up lol, also i know i put limited pallette but the main character being coloured has a reason. the reason MC is colored is because he is the last source of happiness in that universe... and yes the background was made by me too! took a photo of the street outside my house and butchered it lol. also just realised this but the "again" button doesnt work properly. I did want to fix this but that meant reexporting the game for 3 OSES and one web build and i am absolutely exhausted so i cant change it. please press "home" then press play again. thank you for playing!

I really like the game however I ran into a pretty big bug

when I finished the game and clicked "again" on the end screen the end card popped up again and I couldn't restart the level, the home button worked but when I clicked on the tutorial to see if that would fix it the player character was frozen in the air

I'm very sorry about the bug! I didn’t notice it while playtesting which was hugely my fault! Tho im too tired to change anything, I am going to add a disclaimer in the dev notes. Thank you for playing!
